The recommended words results are designed to not only consider how much each valid word scores but also other factors that will help you in the future too. You might go for the highest scoring word each time but that can sometimes leave you in a position where you are left with bad letters on your next go and that can give you trouble on your next few goes as well. The various factors that the recommended words part of the Scrabble Solver considers are set out below:
How much does each letter actually score?
The recommended words considers how much each letter scores and sometimes the highest scoring word will also be the recommended word too.
How easy is each letter to use?
The Scrabble Solver will try to recommend words that use the most difficult letters and leave you with the easiest to use letters. It can sometimes be better to sacrifice a few points to get rid of the more awkward letters as this benefits you in the future by giving you a better chance of using all your letters in your next few goes and also helps you to avoid getting stuck with difficult to use letters at the end of the game.
How many consonants and vowels are there in the letters remaining?
Sometimes you have no choice but to leave yourself with all consonants or all vowels but the recommended words will try to help you to keep a similar amount of consonants and vowels. If you get really unlucky then there’s nothing you can do about it but the recommended words should hopefully reduce the chances or you getting stuck with all consonants or all vowels as it can take several goes to get back to having decent letters again.
Does a letter appear more than once in the letters remaining?
Sometimes you keep picking up the same letter before you’ve had the chance to use the last one or two and then find you have the same letter four times. The recommended words tries to choose words that will avoid you getting into those situations.
How many blanks have been used and are remaining?
The blanks are really useful for when you want to use all your letters or if you get stuck with really bad letters so the recommended words will try to get you to keep them for when they can be most useful.
If you have a Q, do you have a U to go with it?
If you have a Q then you don’t want to be wasting a U and getting stuck with a Q for the whole game. The recommended words will try to save a U where possible if you also have the Q. There is a useful list of Q words that don’t need a U after here.
